Rankora Review: What the AI SEO Tool Does for GEO

Rankora Review: AI SEO Tool for GEO and AEO

Rankora is an AI SEO platform that, according to its own website (rankorra.com, spelled with a double r), bundles eight modules: AI keyword research, SERP and rank tracking, backlink intelligence, a technical SEO audit, competitor analysis, an AI content optimiser, a site crawler and AI visibility tracking. Its homepage names no specific AI engines and shows no prices, only a free trial. So the useful question for a review is not "is Rankora good?" but "what exactly does it measure for GEO, and how do you verify that during the trial?"

This page sticks to what Rankora states publicly (checked in September 2026) and turns everything else into test criteria you can work through yourself. We have not run a paid account, so there are no screenshots, scores or verdicts on output quality here.

Which Rankora is meant here?

Search results for "rankora" mix several unrelated businesses: a digital marketing agency called Rankora Digital, a leaderboard API for games, a study-abroad consultancy and a free website template with the same name. This review is about the SEO and GEO software that describes itself as "The Best SEO & GEO Tool, Engineered for Action". Its domain is rankorra.com, not rankora.com. If you sign up, check that you are on that domain, because the spelling difference is easy to miss.

What Rankora says it covers

The homepage lists eight tools, each with a short category label. The first two columns paraphrase the site; the third column is what we suggest you check:

Module (as named on the site)Label on the siteWhat that implies for your test
AI Keyword ResearchDiscovery / OpportunityCheck where the keyword data comes from and for which countries and languages.
SERP & Rank TrackingMonitoring / DailyConfirm the update frequency and whether local or mobile SERPs are tracked.
Backlink IntelligenceAuthority / Link buildingAsk about index size and freshness; compare a few known links of your own site.
Technical SEO AuditDiagnostics / 36+ checksGet the list of the checks and see whether AI crawler access (robots.txt) is among them.
Competitor AnalysisBenchmarking / GapsTest with competitors you already know well.
AI Content OptimiserContent / On-pageSee whether suggestions are explained or just scored.
Site CrawlerInfrastructure / 100K pagesClarify whether 100K pages is a per-crawl limit and what happens above it.
AI Visibility TrackingAI search / CitationsThe GEO module. Which engines, which prompts, how often? The homepage does not say.

The site describes a four-step process: enter any URL without setup, let Rankora crawl the pages and run "36+ technical checks", receive a "prioritised fix list in plain English", then export a PDF and track changes over time. It lists its location as "Remote, Worldwide" and offers a free trial. A pricing page was not reachable when we checked, so treat pricing as unknown until you see it in the product.

GEO and AEO: what the tool should actually measure

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization: making your content more likely to be used and cited in answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini or Claude. The term comes from a 2023 research paper by Aggarwal et al., "GEO: Generative Engine Optimization", which measured how content changes affect visibility in generative answers. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is the older, overlapping idea of structuring content so that search and voice assistants can lift a direct answer.

For a tool, that means classic rank tracking is not enough. A GEO module has to send real prompts to real AI engines, store the answers and record whether your brand is mentioned and whether your pages are cited as sources. Google documents how its AI features select and link sources in AI features and your website; the takeaway there is that the same indexing and quality basics apply, with no special markup that guarantees inclusion. Any tool that promises guaranteed AI citations is overselling.

How to test Rankora during the free trial

A trial is short. Use it to answer concrete questions instead of clicking through dashboards. This is the checklist we would use for any AI visibility tool, applied to Rankora:

  1. Engines: Which AI engines does the AI Visibility Tracking module query? ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, Claude? Web interface or API? Answers from an API without web search can differ from what users see.
  2. Prompts: Can you enter your own prompts, in your own language and market? Or does the tool generate them from keywords? Ten prompts that match real customer questions tell you more than a hundred generic ones.
  3. Mention vs. citation: Does the report separate "brand named in the answer" from "your URL cited as a source"? These are different signals and need different fixes.
  4. Repeatability: AI answers vary between runs. Ask how often each prompt is run and whether results are averaged. A single run is a snapshot, not a trend.
  5. Raw data: Can you see the full answer text and the cited sources, or only a score? Without raw answers you cannot verify a single number.
  6. Technical checks: Do the 36+ audit checks include AI crawler access (GPTBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and similar in robots.txt), JavaScript rendering and structured data? Compare the findings with a free crawler check.
  7. Export: The site mentions PDF export. If you need CSV or an API for your own reporting, ask before you commit.
  8. Pricing and limits: Clarify prompt limits, tracked domains, crawl limits and contract terms in writing, since they are not on the homepage.

Run the same five prompts manually in ChatGPT and Perplexity on day one and compare them with what the tool reports. If the tool says you are cited and you cannot reproduce it, ask support how the data was collected.

Who a tool like this fits, and who it does not

An all-in-one suite that combines classic SEO modules with AI visibility tracking makes sense if you want one place for audits, rank tracking and GEO monitoring and do not already pay for separate tools. If you already run an established SEO suite, the only new part is the AI visibility module, and you should judge Rankora mainly on that: engine coverage, prompt control and raw data access.

If you mainly need to know whether AI crawlers can read your site and whether your pages are structured to be cited, you do not need a subscription to start. That part is free to check.
