What is llms.txt?

The proposal at llmstxt.org describes a compact overview for agents. It replaces neither a sitemap nor robots.txt. Use by individual AI systems is not guaranteed.

1. Enter a name and description

Name your website and explain its purpose in one sentence. Use verifiable facts. The generator places the name in a heading and the description in a Markdown blockquote.

2. Select key pages

Select accessible canonical URLs and use clear labels. Check each destination before adding it, so you avoid redirects, login pages and outdated addresses.

3. Copy and publish

Copy the output into a UTF-8 text file named llms.txt. Publish it at https://your-domain.com/llms.txt as text/plain. This tool does not upload it to your server.

4. How do I check the file?

Open the file and check its HTTP status and content type. An HTML error page with status 200 is not an llms.txt. Review headings and open each link. The technical GEO check detects availability; it does not validate the complete Markdown format.

What Google says

Google Search Central requires no extra AI text file for AI Overviews or AI Mode. Treat llms.txt as an optional artifact, not as a ranking intervention or a replacement for accessible content. A generator does not measure actual AI citations.
